By the Book Sunday School Class: Prayer Requests for Sunday10/18/09

Praises, travel mercies:
The McManameys (Jim and Claudia) will be going to North Carolina to visit their daughter Tara and husband Judd. Wish them safe travels and a speedy return; I (John C.) will be teaching in place of Jim, and he will be welcomed back with open arms...

Prayers:
Rhonda Pierce's cousin Penny, for whom we had been praying, passed away this past week. Please pray for the Pierces to find strength, and also for Penny's daughter, Tiffany, who is 16. Also, Jim added Rhonda's daughter Brittany to the prayer list last week; we pray Rhonda can bring Brittany back into their relationship and help her find salvation.
We are also praying for Valerie Dinwiddie and her family; her father, Fred Castle, passed away after losing his battle with pneumonia and other problems. He is healed and in a better place, but his family feels the loss.
Please continue to keep Larry Springer and his wife Nora in your prayers. Her condition has not improved.

Events:
Our class has been asked to provide a basket as a door prize for the Health Fair, and Claudia McManamey offered to put together a Christmas -movie-themed basket, with two or three movies, some popcorn, and the makings for cider. The Fair is November 7th; those of us who want to help with the basket -- or help cover the cost -- should let Claudia know.

Also, the church's Fall Festival celebration will be October 30th (Friday), and Becky Bolton asked if we would try to assemble a booth for the Festival, especially if it could be themed for the K-5th grade crowd. John C. gulped and offered to give it a shot. Anyone with more experience than me at such things, please help. I will try to think about possible booth games that boys and girls aged 5-10 years would like; right now, Cathy has suggested a tub of slime that contestants would dig into to find balls they could exchange for a small prize.

Please keep praying for all the needs in our church, and for God's will to continue to be manifest in what our Potomac Crest church community does.

By the Book Sunday School Class: Prayer Requests for Sunday10/04/09

Praises, travel mercies:
We're back in the Sanctuary! It looked beautiful. People did a lot of work getting everything clean, seats set up, the flags up, the audio system all in order... thanks to all the volunteers who made it happen.
A wonderful singing quartet, the Gospel Heirs, participated in the service on Sunday. We thank God for their wonderful voices.
The Flowers and Clement families will be on travel next week -- actually, the Flowerses will be away for three weeks.
Jim and Claudia McManamey were away; their son-in-law John Barbee was preaching this Sunday.

Prayers:
Rhonda Pierce asked for prayers for her cousin, dying of cancer.
Also, Cathy Clement asked for prayers for her sister, Rhonda Ivey, who is suffering from high blood pressure, cellulitis and has a low platelet count. We ask for God's will in helping Rhonda to better health.
Please keep Larry Springer and his wife, Nora in your prayers. There is still no change in her condition.
Also, please keep praying for John Barbee, the McManameys' son-in-law, for success in his job search.
Please keep praying for the needs of other people in economic distress in our own church and neighborhoods. Also, please keep praying for the whole church, the leadership, and for God's will to be manifest in all the many projects we are undertaking.
