Praises, travel mercies:
The Ryder family will be travelling to Cancun, Mexico this coming week. Raven will be going to her Military Entrance Processing on Monday, and the family will be off on vacation right after that. We wish them all the best, and Raven (and the whole family) will be in our prayers from now on.
Phillip Ridgway, Phil Edney and Kim Glasoe are 'gone fishin' '. We hope they're having a great time, and a safe return.
Sue Ridgway also mentioned her daughter Stacey, who for the first time has car payments in her own name. She has a couple of jobs, including teaching kickboxing and, of course, finishing college.
A big praise: Jay Clement (John's son) is at a sober healing program in Boca Raton, Florida. He completed his 28-day program, passed with sober colors, and is settling in. He reports it is hot and boring (it's slow season, and it's hard to find a job; he's thinking of volunteering somewhere until he finds a job) but he's happy to be staying clean in a structured environment. If you want to write him, it's Jay Clement, c/o Boca House, 321 West Camino Real, Boca Raton FL 33432. He thanks everyone for the support and prayers, and promises to write back to all writers -- as he says, that's about all there is to do.
The McManamey's offered a praise. Their daughter Dawn and her husband John are seeing better times; he is happy at his new job, and they have found a house to rent. [We have been praying for them, as they've faced a couple of very hard years as his income was severely reduced in the economic downturn. And their only child is now heading off to college at Radford...]
Jim McManamey offered praises -- Claudia continues to improve, as Jim says approaching complete recovery asymptotically.
Visitor to our class this week: Zan Sellers. Welcome, Zan!
Prayer requests:
Phillip's dad, Randy, is at the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington with chest pains and very irregular heartbeat and blood pressure fluctuations. He has not yet been seen by a cardiologist. We pray for the doctors' discernment and for help in healing.
Larry Springer has been showing some abnormally high numbers on a liver function test. We pray for medical discernment and healing.
Sue Ridgway's mom is home, recovering from surgery (really, reconstruction) of her shoulder.
Cathy Clement asks for prayers for her mom, Jean Smith. Jean likely suffered a small stroke about ten days ago, and has been battling some memory loss and confusion. We worry about her recovery and about her control of her diabetes under these conditions. She saw her primary-care physician on Friday; we pray she can recover fully. She's not used to being helped; she's always been the one to help everyone else.
We're still keeping the Bolton family in our prayers.
Please pray for our church and our pastor's message... with growth come growing pains.
Please send John C. a message if you want to add your name to the snack list. We're all out of contributors!
