By the Book Sunday School Class: Prayer Requests for Sunday 8/23/09

Praises, travel mercies:
We celebrate the occupancy of the Faith wing! We met in our new classroom this Sunday; we will be a bit crowded for a few weeks until the remodeling of the Fellowship hall is concluded and more classrooms open up; but we had a very good discussion.
Leah Gillespie came to church with her new baby. We congratulate her and grandparents Bob and Leanne for God's gift of a beautiful baby girl.
Travel mercies for the Benfields, on the road for the next week. And we're glad Phil Ridgeway is back safe from his bike road trips.

Prayers:
Doug Shank's knee is almost completely healed. Keep praying for his full recovery.
Jason and Angie Blanton asked for prayers for their son Dillon, who's been suffering with diarrhea for a number of days.
Eric Zerkle asked for prayers for himself and his fellow Pentagon budget officers -- it's budget (2010-2011) season and there is a lot of work to be done. [That goes for budget officers all over the Federal government, including Cathy Clement.]
Eric also mentioned his cousin Marvin Suhu and the whole Suhu family; he's been in bed long enough to develop a serious bedsore. Marvin is trying to get his body healed enough for him to travel from Hawaii to California.
Phillip Ridgeway mentioned his father. He's been off his heart medication; his doctors are trying to diminish his medicine to see if he is healthy enough to withstand a double knee replacement. We pray for discernment and health for Phil's dad.
Eileen Kramer asked for continuing prayers for her brother Bill and Shari, his wife. Bill is facing a painful bone marrow test at the end of this week; there is still no clear diagnosis. His blood red cell levels are still low. Please pray for discernment and for healing.
Lisa Qualls mentioned a situation at work, in which she has had to act as an advocate for another person who was the victim of a third person's improper behavior. The third person was fired, and Lisa feels the burden of the firing even though the punishment was for a second offense. Please pray for peace of mind for Lisa and the victim.
Valerie Dinwiddie asked for prayers for her Mom and Dad. This is the week her family is on vacation, and the parents are home alone and in delicate health. Pray for them to stay healthy.
Anita Hampton sees her doctor this Monday for a diagnosis and way forward. Please pray for discernment and positive results.
Let's not forget to keep praying for the needs of people in economic distress in our own church and neighborhoods. Also, please keep praying for the whole church, the leadership, and for God's will in all the many projects we are undertaking.
We are still collecting Bibles and Christian books to send to India to the IBL. And we're collecting for Sunday School supplies for the new classrooms -- any spare change will help.
