Mike Benfield has set up a prayer blog for prayer requests: http://pcbcbythebook.blogspot.com. We are currently adding the prayer requests to the blog, as well as sending them out via email. Eventually, we would hope to move the prayer requests completely to the blog. Please let Mike or John C. know if you are accessing the blog.
Praises:
Valerie Dinwiddie's father had his last chemotherapy treatment this past Thursday, and his doctors pronounced him in remission. They will check him again in 3 months.
Claudia McManamey offered praises. She had been suffering from near-constant headaches and migraines; she was diagnosed with a persistent sinus infection, has had antibiotics and a change in her regular medicine, and has now been headache-free for a couple of days!
PCBC members have started the Angel Food Ministry, providing low-cost food for members in need.
The AWANA Games will take place on Saturday, February 28. If you are interested in helping or cheering on our team, please talk with Wayne Moore or T.J. Wheeler.
Prayers:
John Jessup, our volunteer children's pastor, has asked for a temporary leave of absence to deal with some family matters and address personal priorities. He will be missed, and we will all be praying for guidance and wisdom for him in this difficult time.
Maria Mellencamp's husband has been diagnosed with throat cancer, and may have no more than six months to live. Please keep Maria and her family in your prayers.
Heather Arterburn asked for prayers for daughters Elly and Dana, battling something flulike.
Others with colds: Cathy Clement; Bobbi Queen's daughter Samantha.
Craig Kramer asked for prayers for his wife Eileen, also battling the flu.
Please keep the Vacation Bible School (VBS) in your prayers. The event will be in June; we will be looking for many children to participate, and of course for leaders. Volunteer orientation and child protection training will be offered between now and then.
Dana Blanton asked for continuing prayers for her family. She had mentioned her nephew's legal issues. They have not heard anything, and are still waiting 'for the ball to drop'; it's hard on the whole family.
Andy Wheeler is still healing from his surgery. He's had some swelling in his knees.
Please pray for our nation's economic recovery, and for Prince William's recovery in particular. Many people in our area are suffering.
Announcements:
Men's Bible study group started today. A women's study group is
starting next Sunday 2/15. Both will run at the church from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. The men's study will go for eight weeks.
The Truth Project is meeting every Sunday evening at the McManamey home. Please see Jim McM. or John Flowers if you want to know more about the course.
Don't forget to contribute a quilt square for Gail Ryder's Family Square Quilt Project. The plan is to sew a quilt, have the men build a frame, and decorate part of the new addition with the quilt. Any moneys not used for the quilt will be added to the Building Fund.
Ongoing Prayers:
Please keep praying for God to work a miracle for Tom Carlson's dad. He's had some moderate, continuing progress (some days better than others), but the long-term prognosis is not real good.
Please keep our youth group, and pastor Jason and Becky, in your prayers.
Keep AWANA in your prayers, and all the leaders and helpers. Help is always needed, with registration or with the activities.
Don't forget to pray for our building effort and the faith of our congregation, all of us pulling together.
