By the Book Prayer Requests for Sunday 3/21/2010

Praises:
Phillip Ridgway has heard about the Navy job he was hoping to get. He is to receive an appointment letter in the next week or so, and will be starting (assuming all paperwork gets properly done) sometime in April. Know that prayer works, and don't stop now!
JK Flowers came to Sunday School today; wedding plans are moving along. He gave praises for the support of family and friends, and asks for continuing prayers for stressfree (as much as possible) planning and for everyone to keep their sense of humor.

Prayers:
Sue Fitzhugh asks for prayers for a former in-law, Bernard. His ex-wife passed away (committed suicide), and the experience has been harrowing for him. Phillip reported he went with Bernard to help him clear out some things from her house, and in conversation heard some things that made him believe Bernard might be attempting to renew his faith in Christ. Sue and Phillip ask for prayers for the Spirit's support of their ministry and for Bernard's salvation.
Claudia McManamey has now been at home for almost three weeks. She makes progress, in big and small ways, every day. The adjustments that the family need to make are continuing; the good news is that she can now use the shower, with a lot of help. They are still trying to solve the problem of getting her out of the house as necessary, for appointments, in case of emergency, and just for her sanity as she continues to recover.
The Family Needs ministry has been lining up folks to take turns providing meals for the family. Please email or call Cindy Fox Bachman if you can help. Don't forget to keep praying for her and Jim and the family as she continues to improve. Jim thanks everyone for their prayers -- they are definitely helping. You can read the latest update and show your support at: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/claudiamcmanamey . Please leave a note if you visit the site.
We mentioned earlier that an inlaw of Cathy Clement's (actually, a sister of her brother-in-law) had been diagnosed with lung cancer. It turns out that the diagnosis is of third-stage cancer; she is to receive heavy chemotherapy. We pray for successful treatment and relief of suffering.
Rhonda and Dwayne Pierce ask for prayers for her daughter, who has attempted suicide and is still having a very tough time with mental and emotional troubles. She is about to turn 21. Please pray for discernment and for relief, and for strength in support for Rhonda and Dwayne as they try to support her daughter in finding her way.
Sue Fitzhugh mentioned a coworker, Willy, just diagnosed with prostate cancer and headed for surgery and follow-up treatment.
We remember those still suffering and trying to rebuild in Haiti and in Chile. Remember that the Annie Armstrong mission collection continues.
As always, please also keep praying for all the needs in our church, and for God's will to continue to be manifest in what our Potomac Crest church community does to serve.
A personal note about this prayer list: we receive and pass on prayers for folks attending our class, but this list goes out to a much larger group. We are always glad to add more prayers to the list, but folks have to request them. Please write me, or just reply "all" to these messages, or reply to this blog, and your prayers will be passed on to all our group.
