By the Book Prayer Requests for Sunday12/12/2010

A note: the Sunday School class is planning to gather at the Flowers' home next Saturday, December 18 at 3 p.m. As usual, John will grill meats, and all class members and former classmates are invited to join in, bring a side dish or beverages, and help us all wish each other a Merry Christmas! Let either of the Johns know if you are planning to attend and what you think you will bring. All recipients of this email are most welcome!

Praises, travel mercies:
Phillip Ridgway is back home from overseas travel. We also celebrate the visit of the youth pastor under consideration, Jay Holladay and his family.
Larry Springer offered praises; his wife Nora continues doing very well on her new medication, and he is still hoping to bring her to church soon.
We offer praises and continued prayers again for Bill Rickard and his family, now back home in Woodbridge from his stay at Duke University Hospital. He did so well in his first treatment that he is back sooner than they had anticipated.
Claudia McManamey had a bunch of praises to the Lord for herself and her family. Not only is this the one-year anniversary of her coming down with Guillain-Barre syndrome (and her recovery is close to complete), but her daughter Tara has been chosen as clinical nurse specialist graduate of the year for her class, and her other daughter Dawn has earned her Master's of Divinity from Regent University. And her son John, who has been struggling with his job and income issues, is looking at a strong job possibility, perhaps as soon as late December. It has been wonderful to see Claudia and Jim back in Sunday School.

Prayer requests:
Gail Byrd-Ryder asked for prayers for herself. She still has the two foster children, and they are a continuing challenge. She also asked for prayers for her niece, Angel, 8 years old; she has been admitted to Children's Hospital.
Cathy Clement asked for prayers for her father, Ron Smith. He had an MRI Friday; they found an aneurysm. He also has a small cancerous mass on his neck. He is very worried, if anything more about the cancer than the aneurysm. We pray for medical discernment and for his continued health and peace of mind.
Sue Fitzhugh asked for prayers for her friend Donna, suffering from severe back pain. She had an MRI last week. Suspicion is that she has an inflamed disk in addition to chronic arthritis.
We continue to pray for the Bolton family's needs, financial and otherwise. We pray that Becky and Jason will find their way forward, with God's help. Jason starts commercial driver training on Monday.
Also, please pray for those with money or job troubles in Woodbridge and Prince William County as well as the people suffering the cholera epidemic in Haiti.
