By the Book Sunday School class prayer requests for March 29th, 2009

Praises, travel mercies:
Heather Arterburn gave praises for the recovering health of their children, and for the prayers, wishes and help of the church membership during their illness.
We had a well-attended business meeting after services on Sunday.  The ministries all reported in; the church is fairly bustling with activity.  The finance committee reported that, to this point in the year, donations are keeping up with commitments.  We praise God for this church and its members.
The Kramers -- Craig and Eileen -- are on travel to Florida this week.
Mike Benfield's parents are coming into town this week, celebrating a 90th birthday.
The McManameys mentioned that daughter Tara has found a job at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina -- the neonatal ICU job she wanted.  Now husband Judd can focus on finishing his degree as he leaves the Marines.
Andy Wheeler is continuing to recover from knee surgery.  He had a bad day and a lot of time in the ER, but is home again and working hard on his physical therapy.
Phil Ridgeway and Susan Fitzhugh have survived a hard weekend.  He slid his motorcycle, and fell and hurt his shoulder; but it seems to be healing well.  Then Susan called him to say that the house was on fire!  Fortunately it was only a kitchen fire and it was rapidly extinguished with no significant damage.

Prayer requests:
Jerry Ellis (leader of the praise team at the 8:30 service) has suffered a heart attack, and is recovering at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. Please pray for his recovery and for Jacquie, his wife.
John Clement has joined his wife in the sore jaw department -- he has a bunch of dental work, which began with some extractions and implant work on Monday.
Mike Benfield asked to add his cousin’s daughter (I guess that’s a second cousin), Makenzi Baxter, to our prayer list.  She's five years old and has been admitted to UVA Hospital with pneumonia.
Phil Ridgeway also mentioned his mother, Vicky, in the hospital with pneumonia.
Claudia McManamey asked that we keep a family member in prayer -- they are having to file for bankruptcy. Please keep praying for the families in our church that are suffering due to the current economic crisis, in particular folks who have lost their jobs due to layoffs.  Our brothers and sisters, and their neighbors and friends, are hurting...  The church's Family Needs ministry is working hard to try to help.
Those who came to Potomac Crest from Riverview Baptist will remember the Reverend Clyde Finley, Riverview's longtime pastor.  He's had a fall and bruised his hip, and is in the hospital in the Newport News area.
A couple of weeks ago we had mentioned Bill Blecha, friend of Jim McManamey.  He was at the hospital having something installed for chemotherapy, and suffered a heart attack (in addition to Stage 2 esophageal cancer).  Please pray for God's healing hand, and for the family.
Susan Fitzhugh mentioned a good friend of hers, John Callender, under treatment for skin cancer.

Announcements:
The church is looking for a keyboard or piano player to help with the praise team and the services.  Jacquie Ellis will have to care for her husband's recovery, and is having a lot of trouble with one arm and needs to stop playing.  If you know someone or are a keyboard person...
Don't forget to contribute a quilt square for Gail Ryder's Family Square Quilt Project.  The plan is to sew a quilt, have the men build a frame, and decorate part of the new addition with the quilt. Any moneys not used for the quilt will be added to the Building Fund.

Ongoing Prayers:
Don't forget to pray for our building effort and the faith of our congregation, all of us pulling together.
