Praises:
Larry Springer mentioned his son, graduating as a nurse and has a job at Mary Washington Hospital -- right where he wanted to be. Also, daughter-in-law is scheduled to have a baby in mid-June. Larry says this is their tenth grandchild!
Patty Tucker mentioned her niece Amy Bennett, now back home after an adventurous trip to France.
Ted and Dana Lavigne's baby girl, born Wednesday May 6, 7 1/2 pounds!
Travel mercies for Dave Arterburn, on the road for five days this week.
Prayers:
Patty Tucker asked for prayers for her sons' football coach, Travis Tull, who lost his wife Shawnee on Friday 5/1. She was 35 years old and healthy; they have three sons under 10. She died very suddenly - she had "flu-like" symptoms on Tuesday and passed away in the hospital on Friday. Please pray for the Lord to help sustain the family.
Our friends the Zerkles are committed to returning to Virginia -- Eric accepted the Pentagon job. They have not yet been able to find a house to buy (still working toward living in their old neighborhood). They're also trying for a temporary rental. Pray for everything to go smoothly for them.
Pray for continued recovery for Jerry Ellis, and for Jacquie his wife. Jerry is getting a follow-up CT scan this coming Wednesday; his condition is still a bit of a mystery.
Hannibal Carver (Angie Blanton's dad) is facing surgery to remove his prostate for cancer. Pray for success in treatment. Also, the Blanton's son Jacob has been suffering with headaches for three weeks and is now scheduled to see a pediatric neurologist in early June.
Visitors to our class, Doug and Lillian Shank. She mentioned her mother, Colleen Crocker, in the hospital for the third time this year.
Let's not forget to pray for people in economic distress right in our own neighborhoods. Also, please keep praying for the whole church, the leadership, and for God's will in all the many projects we are undertaking.
Announcements: next Saturday May 16th will be busy, with the 90-in-90 Cycle Ride (the second annual! They're hoping for as many as 40 riders.), the Youth yard sale (bring stuff!), and we're also collecting Bibles to send to India.
