The prayer requests are posted on the blog at http:pcbcbythebook.blogspot.com. Please check them out there so you can see how God is working in our lives!
Praises: Jerry Ellis, recovering from two heart attacks and multiple arterial stents, came to the 8:30 a.m. service today! He is recovering well, but doctors still don't know why he's had pain when the stents went in. Please keep him in your prayers, as well as his family.
Larry Springer mentioned his son, graduating as a nurse and has a job at Mary Washington Hospital.
Andy Wheeler is done with physical therapy for his knee; he's had some swelling, but generally he's continuing to improve.
The Zerkles, visiting last week, put a contract on a house (five doors away from where they used to live!). Pray for everything to go smoothly for them.
Prayers: Lisa Glasoe mentioned her cousin John, living in Kansas City; he has prostate cancer that has spread, and they have done all (radiation, chemo, surgery) they can for him. Doctors give him perhaps two years.
Hannibal Carver (Angie Blanton's dad) also has prostate cancer -- he was to meet his doctor for decisions on treatment today. Pray for success in treatment. Also, Jacob Blanton has been suffering with headaches for three weeks -- pray it's nothing worse than allergies.
Patty Tucker asked that we please add Karen Cohen to our prayer list. She has Stage 4 cancer that has spread to her bones. Karen needs healing of the heart and body.
Philip Ridgway mentioned his brother and his dad. His brother has gone to Los Angeles to help his dad let go of a lot of clutter in his apartment. Pray for the brother's compassion to help reduce tension and stress with his father as they work together -- they need to clean up dad's old place; he has a place to move to, but without all his stuff.
Claudia McManamey mentioned she is facing a rough week -- she has a whole week of night shifts, and won't see her husband pretty much for the week. Also, she asked for prayers for her daughter (Dawn) and her daughter's family (husband John, daughter Catherine, 16)-- they are losing their home due to foreclosure. Their income is 15% of what it used to be. They have a place to move to, but it is very hard for them. Dawn is working and also trying to finish a degree, and is the main source of income for them at this point.
A number of people asked for prayers for people in economic distress. Cathy Clement mentioned a work situation; she has to let an employee go who is a single mother. She's given her plenty of notice and opportunities to go for training and find another job, but it's still hard. John Flowers also mentioned that his employer is having to cut overhead by 10%; they are trying to avoid layoffs, but it's difficult.
Also, we ask for prayers for people going through the H1N1 flu, and for those with children attending schools in Maryland that have had to close -- it's hard on the parents, since they have to take off work to take care of them.
Please keep praying for the whole church, the leadership, and God's will in all the many projects we are undertaking.
