By the Book Sunday School Class: Prayer Requests for Sunday 5/31/09

Praises:
Doug and Lillian Shank offered praises for Lillian's mom -- she had been ailing and unable to move, but the other night she got up out of her recliner by herself and came to the kitchen in her walker.
Rhonda Pierce offered praises -- she is graduating college with a degree in information technology.
John Flowers offered praises for his son JK, who has now moved back to the area after graduation from his Master's degree in clinical psychology. John was saying 3/4 of his family are back home!
Phil and Lisa Qualls celebrated their anniversary on June 1st. Congratulations!

Prayers:
Please pray for Lillian Shank's mom's continued healing.
John Flowers is seeing an orthopedist for his knees. He has finally resigned himself to getting the news that he may need surgical help.
Please keep praying for one of our church members, Toni Reynolds, who had a serious car accident ten days ago. She is now in rehabilitation at Mt. Vernon with a jaw wired shut and a broken collarbone. Please keep the whole family in your prayers.
John Flowers mentioned that JK (his son) is trying to organize a mission trip to South Africa. He asked for prayers as JK tries to raise the funds he will need for this trip.
Valerie Dinwiddie asked for continuing prayers for her dad's healing.  In addition to COPD and atrial fibrillation, his latest PET scan showed that the tumor in his lungs had shown some signs of activity.
Anita Hampton asked for prayers; she has applied for a daytime shift (she now works nights).
Claudia McManamey is recovering from shoulder surgery; she is in a good deal of pain, and about to begin physical therapy. Please keep praying for her recovery.
Cathy and John Clement asked to add her daughter Veronica's father, Scott Statham, to the prayer list. He had a fall from his motorcycle and broke his tibia right below the knee, and has had a metal plate inserted and is at home recovering.

Let's not forget to pray for people in economic distress in our own church and neighborhoods.   Also, please keep praying for the whole church, the leadership, and for God's will in all the many projects we are undertaking.

Don't forget, our class is serving dinner at the Hilda Barg shelter on Tuesday 9 June.  We are serving Mexican food. Thanks to all who have offered to help or serve. John will send around a revised task list this week. We will collect stuff this coming Sunday or, at the church, on Tuesday afternoon. Any questions, email John Clement at johnclement122@yahoo.com, or call 202-270-6669.

And don't forget, we are still collecting Bibles and Christian books to send to India to the IBL.
