By the Book Prayer Requests for Sunday 7/18/2010

Praises, travel mercies:
Cathy Clement said farewell to her daughter Veronica, going back to Fairhope, Alabama after a week's visit. And Jay Clement, John's son, is back in Fairfax, to stay -- we hope -- for a few weeks.
Phil Ridgway's dad, Randy, came to church today, and joined our Sunday School class. Welcome, and do come back. Meanwhile, travel mercies for Sue; she and a daughter are driving back from Florida tomorrow, having picked up some furniture and objects from her parents.
Also, Phil starts his new job tomorrow, after a number of delays. And (as we've mentioned before) he's been trying to clean and fix up the house his brother recently vacated. This weekend some friends (and his father) showed up with a paint sprayer, and they cleaned and painted two whole rooms. Praise and thanks!

Prayers:
We ask for special prayers for the Boltons. The family is facing troubles, and needs our prayers.
Gail Bird-Ryder asked for prayers for herself (personal issues) and her daughter Raven's pain management.
Larry Springer asked for prayers for his daughter's in-laws, especially her father-in-law Bill; he's suffering from angina, and there will be exams this week that may end up in a stent or surgery.
Heather Zerkle is in the hospital, with what doctors believe may be meningitis (although other things are still being ruled out). Eric reports her headaches and shoulder pains are a little lessened; we pray for doctors' discernment and a full recovery.
Phil Ridgway asked for prayers for his brother Marty, now moved to Arizona but very depressed and not seeing his way forward. Phil asks for prayers that God may work in his life; also Marty's son Josh, living out of his car in Tucson.
As always, we continue to pray for Claudia McManamey, for John Clement's son Jay, and for Larry Springer and Winnie Cooper's full recovery.
And, of course, we continue to remember and pray for the people suffering and trying to rebuild in Haiti.
We've heard from a few of you, but are still looking for expressions of interest in having a social event for friends, members, and former members of this Sunday School class, and all the folks on our prayer request list. We've missed seeing each other outside of Sunday services! So we are thinking about the first weekend of August, most likely Saturday the 7th. John Flowers has offered his house. We could do a potluck dinner, say gathering around 6 p.m. All family members welcome! Please reply to John F. or John C., or just let us know when you see us on Sunday.
