By the Book Prayer Requests for Sunday 9/19/2010

Praises, travel mercies:
Mary Dunlap had a great praise. She had asked for prayers for her boss, Tom Blake, who was in for testing and was afraid he had lung cancer. He had his tests this past week, and the doctors confirmed he had pneumonia, but no sign of cancer.
Phil Ridgway is still on travel, not back until next Saturday.
Becky Bolton offered praise to all of the Potomac Crest family, for assistance and encouragement. She said her father-in-law had called to offer encouragement, and she was very grateful that they are staying in touch.
John Clement offered a praise: his son Jay will be released from jail this coming Saturday, and we hope to bring him to Fairfax next week and maybe to church with us next Sunday.

Prayers:
Dwayne Pierce asked for prayers for Rhonda; she was promoted to a job with more responsibility (and stress) and then asked (and was given) her old job back -- now she's stuck with both jobs. Let's pray for some relief and peace of mind. Gina McDonald is doing HR at the Pentagon, and between all the generals and the end of the fiscal year she is working evenings and weekends; we can pray for the end of the fiscal year (September 30) for her and for the rest of us Fed employees.
Cathy Clement asked that we keep her daughter Veronica in our prayers; she has been suffering from near-chronic tonsillitis, and will have her tonsils removed on September 30. Cathy will be going down to visit with her.
We're continuing to pray for Cathy's sister's sister-in-law, Donna Oler, in Florida, with tumors in both lungs. Pray for strength, endurance, peace of heart, and (if God wills it) a miracle to cure her. Also for her brother R.L. who may have to go back to teaching middle school earth science.
Deb Talbot of our church is asking for prayer support and "...please pass the word on that my sister Leslie O'Neal and her 8 year old daughter are looking for a VERY inexpensive room/basement to rent in the Woodbridge area. Leslie works off Dale Boulevard and Mya is going to school in this area. they are temporarily living with my grandmother and aunt in a retirement community and Mya can only stay there 90 days."
We're also keeping John Flowers' wife Lydia in our prayers; she was laid off, has now resolved (we hope) her unemployment problem, but has decided to look for work...
Becky Bolton asked that we keep praying for Jason, that he finds guidance to straighten out his path in life, and for strength and endurance for her and her family. Some days are better than others...
As usual, our ongoing prayers for Jay Clement (John's son), for Claudia McManamey, for Cathy Clement's DivorceCare class starting at the end of this month, for GriefShare and Awana and the other youth and adult classes, for those with money or job troubles in Woodbridge and Prince William County as well as all those recovering from floods in Pakistan and mine accidents and the earthquake in Haiti. Also, please pray for guidance for the men's ministry, and for their retreat in October.
