Praises, travel mercies:
Phil Ridgway has returned safely from his travels.
John Clement's son Jay is out of jail; however, his heart is still uncertain and we're not sure he's on the path to recovery. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. He was very moved by everyone's letters and cards.
Jim McManamey said Claudia has been spending the week at the children's home in North Carolina, and by all accounts doing very well. He has every hope she will soon be able to come to both Sunday school and service.
Becky Bolton offered praises; she has begun to get to know her neighbors, and their kids come to the house and yard and play. She stays out to watch them, and has been able to chat with a few of the neighbor mothers. Jason has been writing her, and his letters show a change of heart; she is hopeful. He has been ministering to one of his fellow prisoners in jail. Jason's next court date is Tuesday; Becky is trying to see if an inpatient facility can be found where he can be located while waiting for sentencing. This will cost money, so there is much to pray about.
Cathy Clement will be traveling this weekend to visit her daughter, who will have her tonsils removed. Travel mercies, and successful recovery for Miss Veronica.
Prayer requests:
Gina McDonald asked for prayers for her mom. Beth has been diagnosed with colon cancer; she has been injected with a radioactive seed, and will also need a year of chemotherapy. She is not healthy; please pray for strength and endurance.
Rhonda Pierce asked for prayers for her daughter to come to Christ. She is still handling two jobs, but she and Dwayne are surviving. Rhonda's dad had to have emergency surgery; there had been a risk he would lose his leg, but the doctors managed to save it. He's doing well in recovery.
Sue Fitzhugh mentioned her mom, either 79 or 80. She had back surgery, and is now undergoing further testing. There is worry that her kidneys are starting to fail. Please pray for healing and relief from pain.
Jim McManamey mentioned a former hospital roommate of Claudia's. Mary Alice had a serious car accident, and has had several surgeries; she still cannot put weight on one leg. Pray for encouragement and endurance; she is having a very hard time.
John Clement mentioned his coworker, Betty Suber. She is a very religious woman, and may have had a breakdown; she abruptly tried to resign. Her family asked that she be placed on medical leave, saying she needs her job and her medical coverage. Please pray for her recovery and for perspective for her and for her family (she has ailing parents and a 14-year-old daughter). Another coworker of John's, Ali Khan, has a perfect storm of family problems besetting him; please pray for peace in his house.
John Flowers mentioned a coworker, Paul Ebert, badly hurt in a motorcycle accident.
We remember all the classes ongoing or starting this Sunday: Becky Bolton and Deb Duty teaching a class on "when ungodly things happen to godly people"; Cathy Clement leading DivorceCare, and John leading GriefShare; also Doug teaching Bible studies, plus youth classes and Awana... Also, John Flowers is thinking of leading a class on the Truth Project.
We are also praying for a bunch of people: Donna Oler, Cathy's sister's sister-in-law, with spreading lung cancer; the Lorton family who lost their mother and two children; the families whose townhouses burned to the ground in Manassas; Sue Fitzhugh's coworker, whose wife lost her hand in a work-related accident, and who has lost one brother and may lose a second to brain cancer. Also, Cathy's brother R.L. who may have to go back to teaching middle school earth science.
Deb Talbot of our church is still asking for prayer support and "...please pass the word on that my sister Leslie O'Neal and her 8 year old daughter are looking for a VERY inexpensive room/basement to rent in the Woodbridge area. Leslie works off Dale Boulevard and Mya is going to school in this area. they are temporarily living with my grandmother and aunt in a retirement community and Mya can only stay there 90 days."
Still praying for John Flowers' wife Lydia, looking for work. Please keep praying for John Clement's son Jay, that he may find the path to recovery and, if possible, to faith in Jesus.
Also, pray for those with money or job troubles in Woodbridge and Prince William County as well as all those recovering from floods in Pakistan and the earthquake in Haiti. Also, please pray for guidance for the men's ministry, and for their retreat in October.
