Praises, travel mercies:
Mary Dunlap offered praises for her brother's healing. The pain and numbness he was feeling before spinal/neck surgery are gone, and he is actually being told he can soon go back to work!
Several folks offered praises (and prayers) that kids are going (or will soon go) back to school. We pray for our youth as the new school year begins.
John Clement offered praises for his son Jay and our church. He has gone through half his jail time, and several church folk have written him, and he has written back. Please keep him in your prayers, that his heart may be lifted by all the love surrounding him and he may find his way to salvation and life change.
Phil Ridgway offered praises and a prayer for the Men's Breakfast (yesterday, with fairly light attendance) and the Men's Ministry. Please pray for folks to step forward and lead this ministry -- and all of you, don't forget the retreat the third week in October.
Travel mercies for Larry Springer; this week he's at a school reunion in Wisconsin, and then he's off to the beach, lucky stiff.
Prayers:
Mary Dunlap asked for continued prayers for herself, for health issues. Her blood sugar levels have been good, easing her fear of diabetes; she had a hearing exam, and she has lost a good deal of hearing in her right ear. Doctors will be looking for the cause; this has also affected her balance and caused occasional dizziness and tinnitus (ringing in the ears). Mary also asked for prayers for her former boss; Mr. Blake has been the closest thing to a grandfather her daughter Brianna has had, and is seriously ill.
Sue Fitzhugh asked for prayers for her coworker. In her own words from earlier in the week: Please add one of my Bakery Managers, Son Nguyen to the prayer list. He recently lost his brother in Vietnam from inability to recover from brain surgery for tumors. He has another brother that is in a coma in Canada, also result of brain tumor surgery. He has returned to the US from Vietnam to find that his wife had an accident at work, causing her to lose her hand. She is the manager in a noodle factory and was training new hires on equipment. He needs uplifting for the ability to cope with all the struggles he is facing.
John Flowers asked for continued prayers for Lydia, his wife. She has been laid off, and now is looking for work and also battling the unemployment office, against claims she has not been working for the past two years.
Becky Bolton mentioned she had had a good visit with Jason in the past week, and that he seems consistent in his messages and communication with everyone and she is hopeful. She asks for prayers for him for wisdom, discernment, and strength to deal with issues that extend back into his earliest days. Please keep Jason, Becky and their family in your prayers.
Phil Ridgway is still fixing up his old house to rent it; they still have to deal with carpet, bathroom and yard issues. We pray for strength and good weather.
As we said last week: The church is looking at a full agenda this fall: Awana, youth activities, many classes, including GriefShare (ask John C.), DivorceCare (ask Cathy C.), Experiencing God, Bible study, etc. We ask you to lift up the church and its teachers and leaders in prayer as we reach out to our community and our membership. We continue to pray for Claudia McManamey and Jim, for all our members still hurting from the economic slowdown, and of course for people suffering in Pakistan, in China, and still recovering in Haiti.
