By the Book Prayer Requests for Sunday 4/4/2010

Praises:
Thanks to all the folks (especially a large group from the Men's Ministry) who showed up to help the Talbots move their belongings this past Saturday. This spirit of service is one of the best parts of Potomac Crest fellowship.

Prayers:
I have one more prayer request to add. Bill King wrote late last week:
Please be in prayer for my wife's dad who has been dealing with cancer. We found on friday that he has 2-3 weeks. We are praying that God will take him so that he does not suffer any more pain. Bill

We continue to pray for Heather Zerkle's sister. Heather wrote last week:
My sister has an inoperable pituitary tumor. She is supposed to start treatment tomorrow. She will take a pill every 3 days for 8 weeks with the hopes of shrinking the tumor and all of the others. Eventually she will become to sick to swallow the pill and they will have to inject it into her system. We are asking her to seek a second opinion from the Mayo Clinic, they might have more experience. They would tell her within 2 days if they think they can operate on it or not.
I have a couple of specific prayers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and may God bless you.
1. Pray that she will at least check on this option at the Mayo Clinic
2. If they cannot operate that God would put a hedge of protection around her and keep her from getting sick during treatments
3. Pray that God would be glorified and that she feels His continual presence!
4. Pray that she will see complete recovery no matter which road she has to take
5. Pray for her children (Tanner & Tatum), husband (Jason) and my mom (Mary)
6. Pray for their finances, she is the only steady income right now.
We continue to pray for Claudia McManamey, who has now been home for going on five weeks. Jim and family are still trying to solve the problem of getting her out of the house as necessary, for appointments, in case of emergency, and just for her sanity as she continues to recover. Stair lifts are back under consideration. You can, as always, read the latest update and show your support at: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/claudiamcmanamey. Please leave a note if you visit the site.
Sue Fitzhugh's mom is having back surgery this week; she is 78 and in considerable pain. She is fairly stoic and reserved about her stuff; last month she went in and had her gall bladder removed, and didn't tell anyone about the surgery until she was back home . Also, Sue's dad is going to the cardiologist on Friday. So we pray for her family. Also, pray for Phil Ridgway's sister Candie and her husband Donnie -- they are having relationship issues.
John Flowers mentioned his brother-in-law, who has been suffering from cancer in his back, has had multiple surgeries and complications from infections, resulting in more surgeries. Please pray for recuperation. Also, John's family is seeking the right placement for his mother; she needs a nursing home. John continues to ask for prayers for sanity in the household as the date of JK's wedding gets closer.
Cathy asked for prayers for John C. -- he's at home with the galloping flu; hope it's the one-day variety.
We are knee-deep into planning and preparing for Vacation Bible School, in late June. Please be in prayer about VBS and consider how you might be able to turn your talents to helping...
We continue to remember and pray for the people suffering in Haiti, and also in Chile. Also, don't forget that we are still collecting for the Annie Armstrong fund.
Please pray for guidance and wisdom as our church looks for the Lord to tell us what we as a church need to do next.
