Praises, travel mercies:
As of today, JK Flowers and his bride have tied the knot, and John and Lydia and Candace are headed back home. We wish them safe travel, look forward to seeing pictures of the ceremony and wish the new bride and groom all happiness.
And peace and calm to the rest of the family; they have other stresses, but this may be one less thing to plan for and worry about.
Cathy Clement wishes everyone to know that, as of 5 p.m. Sunday 4/25, she is done with a very hard-working online class! She is busy exhaling and trying to relax. We are going away next weekend to celebrate a little; John Flowers will take the Sunday School class for this coming Sunday.
Lots of our folk are away; Rhonda Pierce and Sue Fitzhugh are at the women's retreat.
John Clement is pleased beyond telling to announce the arrival of Nina Marie Boone Santos, born last Sunday evening 4/18 at 11 p.m., 7 lbs. 13 ounces. Very beautiful, very healthy. Mother and daughter doing great; brother and father doing the doting thing.
Prayers:
We continue to pray for Claudia McManamey, who has now been home for going on eight weeks. You can, as always, read the latest update and show your support at: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/claudiamcmanamey. Please leave a note if you visit the site. Reading the latest note from Jim, we see the family is preparing for Claudia to be able to spend the day by herself, perhaps starting in June. Plans are advancing for a stair lift; Jim is also beginning to think about occasional outings for Claudia once she can get in and out of the house...
We continue to pray for the Flowers family; although the wedding is (we earnestly hope) happily concluded, they have many more family and work issues they are dealing with.
You have all seen the postings about Bill Rickard; he needs our constant prayer as he battles MRSA infections amidst his ongoing battle with cancer. We pray for discernment for the doctors, for God's will to be manifest, and for strength and calm for Sherry.
Ongoing requests: Lydia Flowers and Heather Zerkle, and other volunteers, are planning and preparing for Vacation Bible School, in late June. Please be in prayer about VBS and consider how you might be able to turn your talents to helping...
We continue to remember and pray for the people suffering in Haiti. We are still collecting for the Annie Armstrong fund.
Please pray for guidance and wisdom as our church looks for the Lord to tell us what we as a church need to do next.
