By the Book Prayer Requests for Sunday 6/6/2010

Praises, travel mercies:

Miss Winnie Cooper is out of the hospital, and will spend a few days at a rehabilitation facility before going home. We thank the Lord for her ongoing recovery.
Our class served dinner on Monday at the Hilda Barg homeless shelter. Everything went well. Thanks to Susan Fitzhugh and her daughters, and to Phil Ridgway, and to Gail Ryder and her son Jason, and to John Flowers, and to Sue Scott and Norma Shull of our church for organizing everything.

Prayers:
Leanne Gillespie asks for prayers for their son Justin, who is battling drug -related problems. He has stopped taking drugs, but has some liver damage, and doctors fear it may be long-term.

Susan Fitzhugh and Phil asked for prayers for some friends, a couple, Bernard and Donna: they decided to marry, and since then have had their air conditioning and refrigerator fail, and their dog got beat up by a cat... they're trying to keep their marriage plans and their relationship together, but they're struggling. Phil also asked for prayers for friends of his sister Crystal and himself; Dwayne and Missy. Missy is pregnant, and this past week they learned that her baby has no heartbeat. They must face an early delivery; please pray with us that God will work in their lives and give them comfort. Candy, by the way, is facing knee (ACL) surgery at the end of June.
Jim McManamey came to Sunday school class, and reported that Claudia is continuing her slow recovery. She is getting around well in their house, and no longer needs the walker there. She still has a ways to go. Jim is hoping that she will be able to come to Sunday School class as well soon. You can, as always, visit read Jim's latest updates on their journal and show your support at: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/claudiamcmanamey.
Jim also mentioned his friend Bill Blecka -- we've written before about him requesting prayers. He has cancer of the esophagus. and now a new tumor has appeared behind the first. We pray for him and his family, for comfort and peace in God's will.

John Clement asks for continuing prayers for his son Jay; he is still clean and sober in his third week after rehabilitation. Melanie, Jay's wife, has filed for divorce, and Jay is very sad and depressed. We pray for him to find a way forward and, if he can, the Way that will lift his soul.

Reminders: we are continuing to pray for the Bolton family. Also, Lydia Flowers and Heather Zerkle, and other volunteers, are preparing for Vacation Bible School, in late June. Please be in prayer about VBS and consider how you might be able to turn your talents to helping...
We continue to remember and pray for the people suffering and trying to rebuild in Haiti.
