By the Book Prayer Requests for Sunday 6/27/2010

We're exploring the possibility of having a social event for friends, members, and former members of this Sunday School class, and all the folks on our prayer request list. We've missed seeing each other outside of Sunday services! So we are thinking about the first weekend of August, most likely Saturday the 7th. John Flowers has offered his house. We could do a potluck dinner, say gathering around 6 p.m. All family members welcome! Send expressions of interest to John F. or John C., or just let us know.

Praises, travel mercies:
Phil Ridgway offered praises -- his brother has finally made it to Arizona, after suffering a breakdown along the way. He hopes he will be able to find a living in AZ. Phil also mentioned his father, who is 76; he is leaving California and driving to Virginia (with a friend), coming to stay with Phil's sister... we wish him safe travels.
Praise to the Lord for a successful and safe week of Vacation Bible School! There were over 100 children signed up, and more than 75 every night -- and eight came to Christ! Thanks to all the workers who decorated, prepared, made food, and worked so hard to make the children happy and spread the Word.
Praises for Winnie Cooper's return to the church this past Sunday! She is still weak, but her smile is dazzingly back!

Prayers:
Cathy Clement asked for prayers for her parents' church, a small church in rural Louisiana. There is a crisis with their pastor; the church has been losing members, getting no new baptisms, and the church is losing its way. We ask all of us to pray that the deacons and senior members may find a way to guide the church to once again be an instrument of God's will.

Phil Ridgway's sister Candy will be undergoing surgery this week for her torn ACL.

We continue to pray for Larry Springer, recovering from heart bypass surgery, and for Winnie Cooper (one of PCBC's founding members), recovering at home. We are also praying for Justin Gillespie and the Gillespie family; and John Clement's son Jay. Jay is struggling with depression but he is staying clean and sober -- now for a month! We are also praying for Cathy Clement's daughter Veronica.
Also Claudia McManamey and her husband Jim. You can, as always, visit and read Jim's latest updates on their journal and show your support at: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/claudiamcmanamey.
We are continuing to pray for the Bolton family. And, of course, we continue to remember and pray for the people suffering and trying to rebuild in Haiti.
