Praises, travel mercies:
Susan Fitzhugh's sister Debbie Callender visited our class today.
John Flowers gave praises -- his son Timothy came to church today. After a considerable amount of teasing from people at the potluck Saturday at the Flowers house, but he came and was welcome. The potluck was a lot of fun, and there was considerable eating carried out.
JK Flowers and Crystal are returning from a belated honeymoon in Switzerland, and should be in Norfolk this evening. John Sr. says they reported having a very good time.
Larry Springer mentioned that his daughter, son-in-law have moved to Durham, where he will attend Duke for the next four years.
Mary Dunlap said her daughter Brianna is doing better on her medicine, as long as she takes it regularly.
Becky Bolton said she had received a long letter of apology from Jason, and an offer of eventual reconciliation. She is cautiously optimistic. She offers praises for the children, who have been very stable and loving through this period. And Becky gave praises -- she has finished her first semester of nursing school, with all As!
Prayers:
Mary Dunlap mentioned her brother Richard's surgery had gone well, marred only by him coming awake in the middle of it. He still has a lot of pain, but feeling has returned in his extremities, meaning that his spinal cord is no longer pinched. We pray for healing and relief of pain.
Mary also asked for prayers for her friend's father. Mr. Fields is suffering from incurable cancer, and they are praying for relief from pain and that the Lord will take him home soon.
Larry Springer asked for prayers for his wife Nora and for himself. He is returning home after several weeks away recovering from heart surgery, and he suspects Nora is not well.
Rhonda Pierce asked for prayers for her cousin, Kevin Meade, diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. She also mentioned she has been on mood stabilizers, and they are making her very dizzy.
Sue Fitzhugh asked for prayers for her friends Donna and Bernard; his father has Stage III bladder and pancreatic cancer, and is 89 years old. Also, her mother had lower-back surgery last Tuesday. She is 79 and suffering with a wide variety of issues, including worries about the possibility of breast cancer. She is asking for prayers for health and relief of pain. Also, her ex-husband has domestic issues, and they affect Sue and her daughters...
Gail Byrd-Ryder asked for prayers for her niece, suffering from rheumatoid arthritis at 15 years of age. She has severe swelling of her face and throat, due to an allergic or immune reaction. Please pray for relief of pain and her symptoms.
John and Cathy ask that we continue to pray for his son Jay. He attempted suicide this past week, and is now in a hospital for behavioral examination. He will still have to do his 45 days... We pray for God's guidance and direction, and for Jay's salvation; we fear he has not hit bottom yet.
As always, we continue to pray for Claudia McManamey and the Bolton family.
And, of course, we continue to remember and pray for the people suffering and trying to rebuild in Haiti.
