By the Book Prayer Requests for Sunday 8/1/2010

Praises, travel mercies:
John Clement is back from staying with his son in Christiansburg. Things went better than expected for Jay: he got the lightest sentence he could possibly get.
The Women's Tea went very well last Saturday, with about thirty persons attending. We praise this outreach ministry.

Don't forget the potluck dinner next Saturday, August 7th at the Flowers home. John will cook meat; others bring side dishes, desserts, chips, dips, etc. Festivities begin at 3 p.m.

Prayers:
Cathy Clement asked for prayers for a pastor friend of her parents -- Terry Ward of Antioch Baptist Church in Slagle, LA. They had gone to hear him preach this past Sunday, and today he suffered a heart attack.

Mary Dunlap came to our Sunday school class this past Sunday. She asked for prayers for her general health, and for her daughter Brianna with insulin and other health issues.

Gail Byrd-Ryder asked for prayers for her foster children. The 12-year-old she was fostering most recently has gone back to her mother, and it breaks Gail's heart every time. Gail asks us all to pray for families without nurturing parents, and for children suffering at the hands of parents...

John and Cathy ask that we continue to pray for his son Jay. He will go to jail this week for 45 days, and after he's out he will have no license for a year and a restricted license after that. He knows he must walk a narrow path from now on; we pray for God to give him strength and will and a heartfelt purpose. He is struggling to find his faith and keep his spirits together; we pray for God's guidance and direction, and for Jay's salvation.

Mary Dunlap asked for prayers for her brother Richard; he has been suffering from excruciatingly severe back pains, and is facing surgery on his back with an uncertain prognosis. We pray for God to lead the doctors' hands and for a full recovery.

As always, we continue to pray for Claudia McManamey; for Gail Bird-Ryder and Raven; for John Clement's son Jay; for Phil Ridgway's brother, nephew, and his father; and for Larry Springer and Winnie Cooper's full recovery.
And, of course, we continue to remember and pray for the people suffering and trying to rebuild in Haiti.
